Redefine BDL Hotels takes over management of Aberdeen Altens hotel
The operation of the four-AA-star, 216-bedroom Aberdeen Altens hotel is to be taken over by independent hotel management company Redefine BDL Hotels (RBH) going forward.
The takeover follows the announcement that the Hilton Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, owned by Aberdeen City Council and due to open 2019, will also be operated by group. RBH already operates 45 properties in the UK with brands including IHG, Hilton, Accor and Marriott.
Aberdeen Altens has been up for sale as put of the disposal of the 10-strong Hotel Collection, by Lone Star, since March for a combined price of £130m. Six of the properties have already been sold including the Imperial in Torquay and the Majestic in Harrogate.
The hotel has a health and leisure club, indoor pool, spa pool, steam room and gym, as well as a Starbucks. Its 12 meeting rooms can accommodate up to 400 delegates, and it is also home to the Cairngorm bar and restaurant.
Stewart Campbell, managing director of RBH, said: "The Aberdeen market is a key area of interest for us at the moment, as we look to grow our presence in and around the city. A city landmark, Aberdeen Altens is much-loved by leisure and business travellers alike. It will sit well within our extensive portfolio, and we're looking forward to getting down to business."
