Jamie Welch appointed executive chef at London Marriott Hotel County Hall

Jamie Welch has been appointed executive chef at the recently refurbished 206-bedroom London Marriott Hotel County Hall.

A Marriott employee for 15 years, Welch joins the hotel from sister property, the London Marriott Grosvenor Square, where he played a key role in establishing the hotel's meeting spaces and catering concept Meetings Imagined, which was later rolled out globally.

He has also worked at the Marriott Meon Valley in Southampton and the Marriott Hotel Sisli in Turkey.

Welch, a one-time Marriott Chef of the Year, said he was "thrilled" to be joining the hotel at this time.

"Everything about the hotel, including the location, the fantastic gin bar and restaurant, is quintessentially British and I'm excited to reflect our history and cutting edge modern development in our new culinary offerings. What's more I'm really looking forward to working with a team who have the same vision."

Welch replaces Sylvan Chevereau, who only joined the hotel in February this year, having previously been executive chef at the St Ermin's hotel in Westminster.
