Victor Garvey to open second restaurant
Victor Garvey, chef-patron of Spanish restaurant Encant in Covent Garden, London, has announced the name of his second restaurant, which will open next year at 64 Dean Street, Soho.
Rambla takes its name from Barcelona's La Rambla where Garvey grew up. The 60-cover restaurant will share many of the same characteristics of Encant, while focusing on Catalan cuisine.
The menu will be divided into three sections: Cru (raw and cured); Mar (seafood); and Muntanya (mountains). Examples include fresh Mediterranean sea urchin with Iberico lard toast; jumbo scallop, smoked roe sauce, crystallised veal jus; and ‘bocata de butifarra negra', Catalan black pudding sandwich with green apple slaw.
The food will be accompanied by an all-Spanish wine list as well as a variety of cocktails.
Garvey said: "Rambla will bring to Soho many of the characteristics our guests love about Encant, while also being very much its own place. The food will be familiar to anyone who knows Catalan cuisine, while also being innovative and fun, with great drinks and service to go with it. I'm really excited to be opening on Dean Street, and hope that Rambla will both contribute to and draw on the street's incredible energy."
