Construction to commence on Doncaster Racecourse Hilton hotel
Hilton Worldwide has reached a franchise agreement with Arena Racing Company (ARC) to open a 154-bedroom hotel at Doncaster Racecourse under its mid-market Garden Inn brand.
Construction will begin on the Hilton Garden Inn Doncaster Racecourse at the end of 2016, with an anticipated opening of 2018. The hotel will provide both additional accommodation for visitors to Doncaster and extra capacity for racegoers on race days. More than 280,000 people visited Doncaster Racecourse in 2015.
ARC's racing and property director Stephen Higgins said: "We are delighted to be working with Doncaster Council and Hilton on this exciting project which marks a new era for the racecourse."
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice-president of development, EMEA, Hilton, said: "Hilton has a strong legacy of sporting venue developments. This hotel will provide prime mid-scale accommodation to domestic and international travellers alike."
John Greenleaf, global head of Hilton Garden Inn, said: "The wonderful new Hilton Garden Inn in Doncaster will add another great stadium property to our portfolio in the UK following the opening of the Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland in the Stadium of Light in April, 2016."
