Boutique hotel to open in London's West End

A 40-bedroom boutique hotel, believed to be called the Mandrake, is set to open later this year in London's West End.

A new premises licence application has been lodged with Westminster City Council by Pistache Hospitality Group for a hotel at 20-21 Newman Street, a site formerly used for offices.

Planning permission for the hotel was granted in 2014 for the development of a hotel on the site including a ground floor restaurant, and Manalo & White architects have been working on the development, due for completion in March.

Dean Culpan is listed as the premises supervisor on the new licence application, and described as the general manager of a hotel called the Mandrake on the site on his LinkedIn profile. He has previous experience as general manager of the Kensington Close hotel and spa, the Chelsea Harbour hotel and Harrods Estates.
