Survey launched to uncover what women bring to the boardroom

Talent consultancy Zircon Management is launching a new survey investigating the strengths of women who have achieved board status and are part of the top team in large corporations. The survey hopes to uncover "what women bring to the boardroom" and give some insight into how females can smash the glass ceiling.

Zircon's business psychologists want to interview successful female executives in CEO/CEO-1 and CEO-2 positions in order to understand the characteristics and benefits women bring to boardroom discussions, strategy, planning and decisions, and how this differs to men.

The research follows on from Zircon's popular "winning attitude" research, a study of 42 entrepreneurs, CEOs and stars from the worlds of sport and entertainment, which identified what it takes to be a winner. Interviewees included Rugby World Cup-winning coach Sir Clive Woodward, Ann Summers CEO Jacqueline Gold and Broadway star Ruthie Henshall.

"What Women Bring to the Boardroom" will be led by Dr Amanda Potter, founder and CEO of Zircon and talent tech business BeTalent. Potter is an expert in the area of talent and management effectiveness, and has built a series of tools and products to help leaders realise their potential and become more successful.

Potter said this new research materialised after presenting at several conferences and repeatedly being asked the same questions from the audience - what are the main barriers women face in their journey to the top, and what do they actually need to smash the glass ceiling?

Following HM Treasury's launch of its Women in Finance Charter last year, which seeks to promote gender balance at board level in the financial sector, Potter added that now was the perfect time to answer this question, .

If you are a successful female executive and would like to be involved in he research, contact chloe.waller@zircon-mc.co.uk. You will have the chance to complete Zircon's Strengths Insight and Decision Styles questionnaires and receive feedback and coaching from a Senior Psychologist.
