Former CEO of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts pens self-help book
David Guile, the former chief executive of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, has written a self-help book to encourage managers and emerging leaders to get the best out of themselves and their teams.
Potential draws on Guile's 25-year career in the hotel industry, which started as a trainee with Forte Hotels. He headed Macdonald Hotels & Resorts for seven years, until he stepped down in 2014 to become an executive leader coach. He is also chairman of hotel management group, Assured Hotels.
Guile said that he hopes that the book will become a shop window for his business and will help operators discover their strengths and define their purpose, as well as enhance their performance in order to progress their career and inspire their colleagues.
The philosophy of Potential is based around the four Ps of perspective, performance, purpose and progress.
Guile said that an individual's success is about taking responsibility and making goals happen. "Only you can release the potential within you and then help others to explore and maximise theirs," he added.
Potential is published by Rethink Press and costs £11.99.
