Searcys wins £5m National Army Museum deal

Foodservice firm Searcys has won a £5m, five-year contract to run the Café at the National Army Museum in Chelsea, London.

In addition to running the Café, which is open to the public, Searcys will also provide events management services for business meetings and other special occasions.

The Café at the National Army Museum can accommodate up to 140 people. Food will be prepared in the on-site kitchen using local ingredients and produce sourced from sustainable suppliers. Cakes, pastries and tray bakes will be made on site and displayed on the Chef's Table, and will be available in the morning along with other healthy snacks. Sandwiches with a choice of fillings, pies, sausage rolls, fresh salads and daily specials will also be available for visitors to the museum.

Colin Gray, operations director for Searcys, said: "The National Army Museum, based in the heart of Chelsea, boasts state-of-the-art galleries, learning and research facilities. The venue has recently undergone a major redevelopment to create an inspiring space that connects people with the British Army."

The National Army Museum was founded in 1960 by Royal Charter and established for the purpose of collecting, preserving and exhibiting objects and records relating to the Land Forces of the British Crown.

Founded in 1847 by the Duke of Northumberland's pastry chef, Searcys opened a series of bars and small restaurants in London in the 1970s as its first permanent sites and today its portfolio of venues include M by Montcalm Shoreditch, Searcys St Pancras Grand, Searcys at The Gherkin, 30 Pavilion Road and Bath Assembly Rooms.
