This week's new openings: 1919 Restaurant, Florentine, The Townhouse and more

A look at the latest restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars to open their doors

1919 Restaurant

The first phase of the £2.5m refurbishment of the Cottage in the Wood in the Malvern Hills is complete. The ground floor reception of the main house and the two-AA-rosette 1919 bar and restaurant have been redesigned to bring their interiors back to their Georgian glory, as well as honouring the location's links with authors CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien, and composer Sir Edward Elgar.

The restaurant is decorated with woodland-themed wallpaper by Timorous Beasties, with antique mirrors and chandeliers. The banquettes and fluted-back chairs have been upholstered in tan, deep green, pecan and pink, and the walls painted a light grey.

The refurbishment of the bedrooms will begin next year, and an orangery and spa will also be added to the property.
