British adventure runner to speak at Foodservice Forum

Adventure runner Jamie Ramsay, who ran 11,000-miles solo and unsupported from Vancouver to Buenos Aires raising money for charities CALM, WaterAid and Macmillan Cancer Support, will deliver the keynote speech at The Caterer's forthcoming Foodservice Forum.

Ramsay, known as "running man" and dubbed Britain's answer to Forrest Gump, famously quit his desk job to "live life on his own terms". Challenges included keeping hydrated while running through the Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on earth, and dealing with acute loneliness.

Delegates at the forum, which takes place at Kings Place, London, on Friday, 9 June in association with Cartwheel Recruitment, will also hear from Sarah Linton, director of Zircon Management Consultants, who will reveal the findings of her company's study of top sportspeople and entrepreneurs. The Winning Attitudes report highlights the characteristics people illustrate to make them succeed.

Michelin-starred chef John Campbell and BaxterStorey's head of sustainable business, Mike Hanson, will also be sharing their involvement with Protein Challenge 2040 and its bid to help operators to adapt to a changing supply chain.

The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts chief executive Sara Jayne Stanes and Alex Taylor, training manager at Harrison Catering will give a brief insight into the importance of taking food education to primary schools via Adopt a School.

Attendees of the conference will also have the benefit of learning how to protect their brand's reputation and deliver crisis management when required in a session by Victoria Cross and Matthew Smallwood of international business communications consultancy Instinctif.

The half-day forum will close with lunch followed by drinks and desserts in Kings Place's Rotunda Bar & Restaurant, courtesy of venue host John Nugent.

Tickets cost £149 per person and can be obtained from the forum website www.foodserviceforum.com
