Kimchee opens second London site

Korean restaurant Kimchee Pancras Square has opened in London’s King’s Cross.

The restaurant, which is part of the Wasabi Group, is the second Kimchee branded venture in the capital after the original in High Holborn.

It will serve a range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes marinated with authentic Korean flavours and cooked in an open-plan kitchen with a traditional charcoal grill, private dining room guests can use a tabletop barbecue.

Split across two floors, the restaurant has capacity for 100 covers at ground level and 70 covers in the basement area.

Sample dishes include starters of mackerel jorim (£5.90) and bulgogi dduk bok gi (£6.90); mains dolsot bibimbap (from £9.20) jjam bbong (£9.70); and desserts of kong-galu crème brûlée with ice cream (£5.95) and black sesame & strawberry pannacotta (£5.95).

Barry McCaughley has created a bespoke drinks list of wines and cocktails chosen to complement the Korean flavours.

Frederic Lluch, operations director of Kimchee, said: “The Pancras Square site provides an ideal location for our second Kimchee restaurant; a vibrant, busy area of new urban re-development in King’s Cross. We hope that the Kimchee concept enhances the square’s offering and provides locals with a unique and exciting dining experience.”
