Cheval Residences to expand to Qatar
London-based luxury serviced apartment business Cheval Residences is to open its first overseas site in Doha, Qatar, in 2020.
Cheval Residences and Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC) have signed an agreement to develop Cheval West Bay ApartHotel Doha, which will feature 350 keys to include studios, and one, two and two-bedroom apartments.
Located within QIMC's mixed-use development Abraj Al Tahwiliya on Doha's Corniche waterfront, the aparthotel will launch ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Mohammed Almarzooqi, group managing director of Cheval Property Management and Cheval Residences, described the development as a "flagship" venture and "a milestone in our company vision to build a strategic portfolio to suit the demands of our affluent well-travelled guests".
Abdul Rahman Al-Ansari, chief executive of QIMC, added: "We selected Cheval for our prestigious development because of the company's absolute commitment to quality which we believe supports the Qatar Vision 2030 to attract increasing numbers of discerning leisure travellers and business travellers to our country."
The Doha development is the first steps to be taken by Cheval Residences to create an international property collection.
George Westwell, director of Cheval Residences and winner of the Outstanding Individual Award at the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers 2016 Awards, said: "The quality of our offering in London is firmly established and our desirable properties there now account for the top three positions within speciality lodging in the capital on TripAdvisor. We will bring the same quality and service ethos to QIMC's striking destination on the Doha Corniche."
