Chef Adam Simmonds is to open the Test Kitchen, a year-long pop-up restaurant in London Soho, ahead of opening his own restaurant.
Opening in May for 12 months, Test Kitchen will see Simmonds experimenting and inviting guests to offer feedback, before opening Simmonds, his permanent high end restaurant, in early 2018.
All seating is at the chef’s counter meaning any questions can be directed to Simmonds himself. Diners will then be invited to appraise their experience.
Simmonds won Chef of the Year (fewer than 250 covers) at the Hotel Cateys in 2011 while he was at Danesfield House Hotel and Spa, and he was a finalist at the banquet for D-Day veterans in St Paul’s Cathedral on the BBC’s Great British Menu in 2014.
His career experience has also included working for Marco Pierre White, Paul Heathcote and Raymond Blanc, and he most recently spent three months as a guest chef at the five-AA-star, 33-bedroom Bath Priory hotel.
London restaurant and leisure agency Restaurant Property was behind the deal for the 702 sq ft unit on Frith Street. The lease runs until summer 2018 with a rent of £75,000 per annum.
