Three Cheers Pub Co announce eighth site
The Three Cheers Pub Co has acquired the lease of the Bedford pub in Balham, south London from hospitality entrepreneurs Karl Harrison and Scott Illman.
It is the eighth site to be snapped up by the trio behind the company, Tom Peake, Mark Reynolds and Nick Fox.
The existing portfolio within the group includes the Abbeville, Avalon and Stonehouse in Clapham; the Bollingbroke and the Lathchmere in Battersea; the Tommyfield in Kennington and the Rosedale in Dulwich.
The Bedford will remain open for a few months before closing for a mutli-million pound refurbishment.
Peake described the Bedford as "an iconic London venue" and its acquisition represents "a huge milestone for Three Cheers Pub Co and it will be a fabulous addition to our collection of pubs".
Harrison, who has owned the Bedford since 2004, added: "It's been a huge privilege and a responsibility to be part of The Bedford. Making the decision to leave hasn't been easy but as I currently reside in Vancouver, Canada we felt that the time was right.
"We wanted the new owners to be people that understood pubs, had a connection to Balham and really grasped what the Bedford is about. Tom, Mark and Nick are the perfect fit and I'm delighted they will be taking the Bedford forward."
Three Cheers Pub Co was initially set up under the name Renaissance Pubs in 2003 by childhood friends Fox, Peake and Reynolds. Their aim is to create pubs which each have an "unique charm", which serve British produce with "boutique bedrooms, beautiful gardens and stunning private rooms".
