Gordon Ramsay Group hires procurement team due to rising costs

Gordon Ramsay Group has hired a procurement team to manage its supply chain as a result of Brexit, economic uncertainty and rising food prices.

In accounts filed at Companies House for the 12 months to the end of August 2016, the company said: "As a consequence of the referendum in the summer of 2016 there is a great deal of uncertainty about the future direction of the economy. This will have a number of potential implications including cost pressures due to the inflationary impact of sterling against the euro, recruitment and the general economic climate.

"In part to mitigate the inflationary impact a procurement team has been recruited to manage the supply chain."

A spokesperson for the group confirmed a team had been put in place led by procurement director Lorraine Copes, who was recruited in early 2016 and was formerly purchasing and supply chain manager at Shake Shack.

The company's 31-strong portfolio runs restaurants including Pétrus, the Savoy Grill and Maze. The group announced a return to profit for the first time since 2012 last month, driven by "strong trading" across its 14 London restaurants.
