Charles Heidsieck announces series of Maverick Encounters
Champagne House Charles Heidsieck has announced the launch of their Maverick Encounters event series for 2017/18.
The events which aim to celebrate modern-day mavericks will encompass the worlds of food, craft, fashion and art and allow guests to meet extraordinary people they may not have heard of, or had access to before, while learning more about what makes them special.
Executive director Stephen Leroux, explained: "Maverick Encounters highlight the spirit at the heart of our Champagne House. Our ethos is centered around an open mind, a quest for excellence and a willingness to share our unique ‘savoir-faire'. Our mavericks are people that recognise this and bring the same attitude to their own fields."
The first Maverick Encounter will focus on the industrial and highly skilled Blenheim Forge, highlighting the trio of knife producers' mastery of Japanese steel and artistic flair. Guests will enjoy a hands-on experience in knife craft in the forge where the trio work, and enjoy food prepared with their razor-sharp knives.
In September, Charles Heidsieck will partner with South London-based papercut artist and illustrator, Poppy Chancellor, also known as Poppy Papercuts and in October the event moves north to visit BBC's Great British Menu contestant Paul Askew at his restaurant, The Art School to see the culinary skills of the chef hoping to bring Liverpool its first Michelin star.
In November, back in London, the fourth encounter will take place in the shop and studio of acclaimed fashion designer, Joshua Kane. An intimate occasion with one of fashion's most charismatic and exciting designers, who recently pulled off the most attended fashion show in London Fashion Week history at the Palladium Theatre.
The Charles Heidsieck Champagne House was founded in 1851 and Charles Heidsieck was known as a stylish gentleman and dandy who travelled extensively selling his champagnes to the royal courts of Europe and American high society.
