Poole Arts Trust Ltd invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced catering companies for the opportunity to operate the food offer within Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts.
Lighthouse plays a vital role in Dorset and the South West as a nationally important cultural building where creative work is made, rehearsed, discussed, shared and presented.
Lighthouse is unique in that we are the only multi-space venue with four auditoria in the South West, and the largest outside London. We house a symphonic concert hall, mid-scale theatre, small-scale studio theatre, independent cinema, art galleries, and function room spaces. Our audiences can discover and enjoy an extraordinary mix of art forms, not possible elsewhere across the South West, all under one roof.
In 2012, Lighthouse leased the food operation to enable the organisation to focus on the core aspects of the business – its arts and events programme. The term of that lease is now up for renewal and is open to all businesses with significant, demonstrable experience of managing a similar operation in a busy and changing environment. It has benefitted greatly from a recent £5.2m refurbishment of Lighthouse which saw the ground floor foyer redesigned and new glazing put in place to open out the centre to the public.
The successful operator should provide a good quality menu that can cater to a wide demographic of customers at different times and can respond to the different demands of volume, food choice and speed of choice. The food offer is part of a wider creative and family friendly environment and the food and drink range should reflect this need.
