Bonham hotel sold to US investor group led by Richard H. Driehaus

Edinburgh's Bonham hotel has been sold to a US investor group, led by fund manager Richard H. Driehaus.

The four-AA-star, 49-bedroom luxury boutique hotel in Edinburgh was sold by a controlled affiliate of global private investment firm Starwood Capital, on an off-market basis. While the exact figure was undisclosed, it is believed to be a record price per room for a hotel sold in Scotland this year.

Driehaus is the founder, chief investment officer, and chairman of Driehaus Capital Management.

Starwood Capital acquired the property in 2015 as part of the Town House Collection founded by hotelier Peter Taylor, which also included the Blythswood hotel in Glasgow, the city's only five-AA-star hotel.

Set within three traditional Edinburgh townhouses, the Bonham also includes a bar and restaurant with an AA rosette.

JLL acted on behalf of Starwood Capital Group for the sale.

Kerr Young from JLL said: "It is no surprise that the sale of the Bonham attracted significant interest from both domestic and international buyers, having long been regarded as one of Edinburgh's most stylish and iconic hotels."

Starwood Capital is currently consolidating an extensive portfolio of hotels it has acquired over the past four years into two distinct brands - Principal, located in iconic properties within city centres, and De Vere, situated in heritage country house mansions.
