Two Michelin-starred Hong Kong restaurant Duddell's to make UK debut

The two Michelin-starred Hong Kong restaurant Duddell's will be coming to the UK this autumn, opening a restaurant at St Thomas' Church near London Bridge.

Founded by Alan Lo, Paulo Pong and Yenn Wong, the new concept restaurant will be the brand's first site outside of Hong Kong.

The new restaurant will be split across the basement, ground floor and mezzanine levels of the restored 5,082 sq ft, 300-year-old church. With a strong focus on art, the interior will also feature exhibitions, while the menu will offer high-end, contemporary Cantonese cuisine and dim sum.

The kitchen will be headed up by Daren Liew, former executive sous chef at the Hakkasan Group.

Leisure property adviser Shelley Sandzer acted for St Thomas's Church.

Leo Feldman, partner at Shelley Sandzer, said: "This unique building will make one of the most spectacular dining destinations in the capital. With its rich heritage, this building has bags of character and we have no doubt that Duddell's will create the same buzz as they have in Hong Kong."

Chris Gass representing St Thomas's Church, added: "Shelley Sandzer's wealth of experience in bringing overseas brands to the UK for the first time ensured that we were able to secure an exciting operator to take over the church."
