Shine Awards 2017 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the Shine Awards 2017, that recognise the achievements of women working in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism, has been announced.

This year's awards, a partnership between People 1st, The Caterer and Travel Weekly

Some 22 leading figures from hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism judged the awards, which also seek to celebrate the critical role businesses and mentors can play in changing workplace cultures so as to make the most of everybody's skills.

People 1st chief executive Simon Tarr said: "Celebrating the fantastic achievements of women working in hospitality and travel is vital to showcase female role models, share best practice and, ultimately, help more businesses to reap the benefits of having well-balanced leadership teams. Congratulations and good luck to all the shortlisted finalists."

The Caterer publisher Mark Lewis added: "This is The Caterer and Travel Weekly's second year of involvement in the Shine Awards, and in that short time we have seen the awards grow in stature and importance. This is testament to the hospitality and travel businesses that are putting issues of equality and a gender-balanced workforce at the heart of their business, and to the successful partnership forged between People 1st and Jacobs Media Group to elevate the profile of this important awards scheme."

As well as the shortlisted awards, the Ambassador of the Year award and the Robyn Jones Lifetime Achievement award will both be unveiled on the night.

Winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner hosted at 8 Northumberland, London, on Monday 16 October. Tickets can be purchased at www.theshineawards.co.uk
