Two Dishoom co-founders exit the business

Amar and Adarsh Radia, two of the four co-founders of restaurant group Dishoom, have decided to exit the business.

The brothers co-founded the business alongside Shamil Thakrar and his cousin Kavi Thakrar in 2010.

The quartet opened their first site, based on the Irani cafes of Mumbai, in London's Covent Garden followed by sites in Shoreditch, Kingly Street in Soho and then King's Cross. An Edinburgh outpost followed in late 2016.

Adarsh and Amar Radia are serial entrepreneurs. Adarsh worked in banking before becoming an entrepreneur, while his brother was working as an accountant. The pair's first business together was a franchise of Subway, which they built up to 29 sites before selling it on.

They then moved into telecoms with Telenomics, a franchise partner of O2, as well as helping to launch Dishoom. Adarsh Radia also runs funding startup organisation WiderPool with business partner Ignacio Macias.

A statement from Dishoom regarding the Radia brothers departure said: "We would like to inform you that Amar and Adarsh Radia, who were co-founders of Dishoom with Shamil and Kavi Thakrar, have decided to exit the business and will be pursuing other business ventures. Amar and Adarsh wish the existing team headed by Shamil and Kavi continued success, while Shamil and Kavi thank Amar and Adarsh for their contributions and wish them success in their ventures."
