Joe Allen reopens on Burleigh Street

Joe Allen, the US-style diner in London's Covent Garden, reopened on 1 September at its new home at 2 Burleigh Street.

The restaurant was forced to move 25 metres down the road from its former site on Exeter Street to make way for Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro's new Covent Garden hotel.

The new venue has retained the same wood panelling and classic theatre posters, bar and piano, and will continue to serve the New York brasserie dishes it has become known for, from calves' liver to Caesar salad, and the not-so-secret off-menu burger.

Celebrating its 40th birthday this year, Joe Allen has been offering classic American cuisine in a New York-style setting since 1977. It was taken over by London-based restaurateurs Lawrence Hartley and Tim Healy in 2012.
