Sleeperz unveils 43-bedroom expansion at Cityroomz Edinburgh hotel

Budget operator Sleeperz Hotels has launched a new wing at its Cityroomz Edinburgh hotel, adding 43 new bedrooms to the property, including 10 suites.

Princes House, a former three-storey office block, has been converted by Glasgow architects Maith Design into a selection of superior double, family and cabin rooms, as well as 10 suites with kitchenettes and lounges. The suites are the first to be introduced across Sleeperz' portfolio, and take the hotel to a total of 115 bedrooms.

The expansion was delivered in partnership with property and investment company Town Centre Securities.

The development of the Princes Street wing comes ahead of the opening in 2018 of a 120-bedroom Sleeperz hotel above Dundee Railway Station, opposite the new V&A Museum, alongside further launches in London and Manchester.

David Myers, chief executive of Sleeperz Hotels, said: "Our guests can stay next door to one of the UK's best shopping streets, in a world-famous capital city, for a great-value price - a formula we're confident will be successful - and deliver important growth in Edinburgh's visitor economy."

Colin Steele, acting on behalf of Town Centre Securities, added: "We are delighted to have worked with Sleeperz on this exciting project, the development of Princes House completes the regeneration of this part of Shandwick Place and will bring further footfall into the West End of Edinburgh."

Sleeperz opened its first UK hotel in Cardiff in 2008, followed by a 98-bedroom Newcastle hotel in 2012. The 72-bedroom Cityroomz Edinburgh hotel, the company's first sister brand hotel, opened in May 2013.
