Former Skylon chef appointed executive head at Smith & Wollensky
Tom Cook, formerly of D&D London's Skylon restaurant, has been appointed executive head chef of Smith & Wollensky steakhouse.
Cook has experience at the two-AA-rosette Le Pont de la Tour, Michelin-starred Tom Aikens Restaurant and the Pier Restaurant in Sydney, which held three Chef Hat awards at the time (the Australian equivalent to a Michelin star).
He has also worked at Gary Rhodes' first restaurant City Rhodes, with Michel Roux Jr at the two Michelin-starred Le Gavroche and under Eric Chavot at the Capital hotel.
Cook said: "I am extremely excited to join Smith & Wollensky and be involved in the continued development of the much-loved steak brand. Over the next few months we will be recruiting and training in preparation for the significant growth being experienced at Smith & Wollensky. I look forward to being a part of the team".
Operations director, Nathan Evans added: "I am thrilled to welcome Tom. His pedigree and wealth of experience will be a great addition to Smith & Wollensky".
US-based American steak restaurant firm Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group (SWRG) opened its first UK site in the Strand in London in spring 2015.
