Holiday Inn Express at Liverpool John Lennon Airport becomes a Travelodge

Travelodge has taken over a 25-year lease on what was previously the Holiday Inn Express hotel at Liverpool John Lennon Airport from the Peel Land and Property Group.

The newly renamed Travelodge Liverpool John Lennon Airport features 100 bedrooms, a café and three meeting rooms. It marks hotel number 549 for the budget group and its 14th property in Merseyside.

Peel Land and Property Group, the owner and operator of the Holiday Inn Express under a franchise agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group, is funding the conversion of the hotel to the Travelodge brand.

The transformation, which is expected to be complete by the end of the year, will include the installation of a Travelodge Bar Café.

Stacey Coleclough, who joined Travelodge in 2009 as a receptionist, will manage the hotel with a team of 20. It with be the fifth Travelodge hotel she has managed.

Tony O'Brien, property director of Travelodge, said: "The local economy is growing at pace and with increasing visitor numbers to the area, there is a big shortage of good quality accommodation at a great value price. With our new airport hotel, we are offering unbeatable value at all the key business and leisure points across the city."
