Centerplate UK narrows losses and increases turnover

Contract caterer Centerplate UK narrowed its pre-tax loss in 2016, as it enjoyed a 2.9% increase in turnover for the year.

The sports, leisure, arts and visitor attractions specialist, which counts the Liverpool Echo Arena, Celtic Football Club, and the RAF Museum in Hendon among its clients, saw turnover for the period rise to just under £48.2m for the year to 31 December 2016.

The company made a pre-tax loss of £284,100 over the period, down from a pre-tax loss of £811,976 in 2015.

Centerplate said that a gross profit of nearly £10.8m in 2016 meant that it achieved a gross margin of 22.3%, up from nearly £8.8m, or 18.7% margin, in 2015.

Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was just over £1.6m in 2016, up from a loss of £572,738 in 2015.
