City District takes Fazenda north of the border for fourth site
Restaurant business City District Group is to open a fourth Fazenda site, this time in Edinburgh.
The company currently has restaurants under the Fazenda Bar & Grill brand in Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.
Its fourth outlet will open in early 2018 following a £2m refurbishment. The 7,000 sq ft site will offer 175 covers, including a bar area of 40 covers, plus a private dining room for eight guests.
The move comes after City District closed its Bossa restaurant in Leeds after a year in order to focus on the Fazenda and Picanha brands, both of which offer premium Brazilian-style food. For a set price, successions of prime cuts arrive at the table including chicken, lamb, pork and beef including Fazenda's signature picanha cut. The restaurants also have a start/stop signalling system on every table, in order to allow diners to eat at their own pace.
The first Fazenda opened in Leeds's Granary Wharf in 2010. The group went on to open sites in Liverpool in 2013, and Manchester in 2015. There is one Picanha restaurant in Chester.
The company said it was searching for a site in a fifth restaurant in Glasgow.
Fazenda's sales and marketing director, Tomas Maunier (pictured), said: "Edinburgh is a vibrant city, with a great personality and an amazing food scene. We want to share a unique and authentic dining experience, similar to the best restaurants in São Paulo or Rio, that will transport our guests to South America. With Scotland being world-renowned for its beef, we thought it was time for us to bring our way of cooking and serving meats to the people of Edinburgh."
