New editor of The Caterer named

Chris Gamm has been appointed as editor of The Caterer.

Gamm, the current publisher of Better Wholesaling and editor of RN (formerly Retail Newsagent), the leading weekly publication for independent news and convenience retailers in the UK, has extensive knowledge of print and digital products, conferences and events and will be joining the team in the New Year.

The Caterer’s chief executive, Duncan Horton, said: “Chris brings to The Caterer a wealth of experience in news trade publishing. I look forward to working closely with him, as the next chapter in the evolution of UK hospitality’s leading news and intelligence source unfolds.”

Meanwhile, hotels editor Janet Harmer has been promoted to the role of associate editor and will take over from Neil Gerrard who leaves The Caterer at the end of the year to join an online residential property title.

Harmer has written for The Caterer for 30 years – both as a team member and in a freelance capacity – and, together with deputy editor James Stagg, will head up the editorial team and its content creation.

Outgoing editor Amanda Afiya, who leaves at the end of October, has been retained part-time to support the group in an advisory and ambassadorial role.
