Mark Hix announces Hix Mayfair closure

Chef Mark Hix has closed his eponymous Hix Mayfair restaurant at Brown's hotel in London.

A spokesperson for Hix Restaurants said the contracted 10-year partnership between Hix and Brown's hotel has come to an end. Hix himself announced the end of Hix Mayfair on Twitter.

The space remains open and is now trading as simply the hotel restaurant. It is set to host Heinz Beck of the three-Michelin-starred La Pergola restaurant in Rome for six weeks from 13 November where he will run ‘Ora', a pop-up serving signature dishes from La Pergola.

As HIX Mayfair closes today, a big thank you to all the team, our loyal diners and contributing artists

Hix entered a joint venture agreement with hospitality business WSH to expand his portfolio of restaurants last spring. After 17 years as chef director at Caprice Holdings, he opened his first restaurant in 2008, Hix Oyster & Chop House in London's Farringdon, which was followed by Hix Mayfair, Hix Soho and chicken and steak concept restaurants Tramshed in Shoreditch, and Hixter Bankside.

Hix, together with artist Damien Hirst, also launched Pharmacy 2 at the Newport Street Gallery in Vauxhall last year. Outside of London in his native Dorset are Hix Oyster & Fish House and Hix Townhouse, both in Lyme Regis.
