The first Adina aparthotel in the UK has been earmarked for the Blythswood Square redevelopment in Glasgow city centre.
Mosaic Architecture + Design has resubmitted a planning application to build a 110-bedroom, four-star hotel at 249 West George Street. Mosaic already has planning consent for converting the existing office building. The latest submission relates to consent for additional bedrooms.
The deteriorated facades will undergo a ‘like-for-like’ replacement, with the existing sandstone cladding being removed and replaced. A new entrance on West George Street will provide access to a ground floor bar and restaurant, while a new extension with additional bedroom suites and an external terrace is proposed within the existing rear parking courtyard.
Neil Haining, director of Mosaic, said: “The proposed extension to the existing top-floor level will create high-level suites with exemplary view across Blythswood Square.”
Adina is a brand of Australia-based TFE Hotels. There are 30 Adina aparthotels across Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
