Regal refurbishment of Rubens at the Palace unveiled

The Rubens at the Palace hotel in London's Victoria, has relaunched with a multimillion-pound refurbishment reflecting its location opposite the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace.

Owned and operated by Red Carnation Hotel Collection, the four-silver-AA-star, 163-bedroom hotel now features two restaurants: the brasserie-style English Grill and the Curry Room, which features dishes from sister property, the Oyster Box in Durban, South Africa.

The hotel also includes the Cavalry bar; the Leopard Champagne bar; and the Palace lounge, which overlooks the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace and serves a royal-inspired afternoon tea.

e new-look Rubens, featuring an interior that "echoes the building's impressive heritage and unparalleled locale with regal colourways", has been created by the group's in-house design team headed by Bea Tollman, the founder of Red Carnation Hotels.

All of the bedrooms have been refurbished, with the installation of 80 new marble bathrooms and 163 chandeliers. Members of the British monarchy have influenced the style of the 18 royal bedrooms, with portraits of the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William, among others, appearing throughout.

colm Hendry, general manager of the Rubens at the Palace, said: "The Rubens has been lovingly refurbished from top to bottom, now fully embracing our royal heritage and celebrating great British tradition from our dining options, to our accommodations. We look forward to welcoming guests and visitors through our newly-polished doors to celebrate British heritage with us."

The Rubens at the Palace has been owned by Red Carnation Hotel Collection since 1997.
