Tender opportunity: Wentworth Woodhouse, Rotherham, South Yorkshire

Wentworth Woodhouse is a stunning Grade I-listed mansion set in 83 acres of parkland in Wentworth, Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The site is about to embark on an extensive regeneration programme which is expected to take up to 20 years at a cost in excess of £150m.

While the mansion hosts a number of domestic kitchens, commercial kitchens are not currently available but will be developed as part of the capital works programme in the future. The trust is seeking to develop mobile kitchen facilities to cater to visitors who come on tours, to events and to weddings. An existing "tea room" which can host up to 50 covers is available.

Over any 12-month period the Trust would expect to welcome 15,000 visitors on tours, cater to around 25 weddings, and host in excess of 75 small to medium events including meetings, conferences, afternoon teas, and exhibitions.

Six major events will also take place though these will be managed by external events teams. Opportunities to cater at these events may well be on offer.

A £7m roof restoration project is already underway with large numbers on contractors based on site until March 2020. Catering should also be made available to them as required.

Grade I-listed and set in its own grounds and parkland, the mansion is a superb location from which to operate a high-quality catering business. Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust is therefore looking for an experienced and innovative caterer to provide a daily catering service to visitors of Wentworth Woodhouse in a manner which matches the high quality environment in which it is located. Both the tearoom and wedding/events opportunity offer exciting possibilities for caterers to work at a prestigious site. All applicants should have a proven track record in providing services at similar size operations, and must have strong financial stability and be able to demonstrate technical competency in the catering field.

Applicants may apply for one or both parts of the tender. A site open day with tour during January will be offered to companies interested in tendering.
