Rohit Ghai to leave Jamavar

Executive head chef of the Michelin-starred Jamavar restaurant Rohit Ghai is leaving the restaurant later this month.

Following his departure, Jamavar will bring in Surender Mohan, the restaurant group's culinary director.

Ghai, the former executive chef of JKS Restaurants (which operates the Michelin-starred Gymkhana and Trishna restaurants in London), opened the fine-dining Indian restaurant Jamavar in Mayfair in 2016 with owner Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, which is run by Dinesh Nair and daughter Samyukta.

The restaurant was the sixth Jamavar restaurant and the first outside India, and won a Michelin star in the 2018 guide.

Ghai also opened Bombay Bustle just two months ago with Samyukta Nair on the site of what used to be Hibiscus in London. There has been no report of Ghai's future plans, but BW Hotelier reported in November 2017 the chef had plans to expand his presence in his native India this year.

There are also Jamavar restaurants in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa and Mumbai.
