BaxterStorey named Sustainable Business of the Year at Edie awards
BaxterStorey has beaten off challenges from the likes of IKEA and Timberland to be named Sustainable Business of the Year at the Edie 2018 Sustainability Leaders Awards.
It was among 17 businesses rewarded for their environmental credentials at a ceremony on 24 January, with other winners including Virgin Atlantic which won the award for Employee Engagement and Behaviour Change and Benedict Orchard from Adnams who was named Sustainability/CSR Manager of the Year.
The caterer was praised for its approach to finding innovative sustainable solutions, particularly its efforts in segregating, weighing and reporting all food waste.
BaxterStorey head of sustainable business Mike Hanson said: "This is an incredible achievement for our team and testament to the work we've been doing to establish sound sustainable practices since we launched our agenda in 2006.
"It's great that our sustainability programme has been further recognised by the industry and we are proud of be part of a wider movement working towards a greener environment.
"We still have big plans including developing our strategy to support the 17 UN sustainable development goals. Subsequently, we have now committed to procure 100% renewable electricity across our business by 2020."
