Restaurant Sat Bains joins Les Grandes Tables du Monde

Restaurant Sat Bains has been inducted into Les Grandes Tables du Monde, the only new addition to this year’s guide from the UK.

The organisation is a select group of distinguished and celebrated establishments with long-standing two or three Michelin star ratings. Only 174 establishments in the world have been invited to join the exclusive club that was established in 1954 by six French chefs.

The two Michelin-starred Restaurant Sat Bains, run by husband-and-wife team Sat and Amanda Bains in Nottingham, is now one of only eight establishments in the UK included in the group, in addition to the Waterside Inn, Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester, the Fat Duck and Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, which joined the group last year.

Sat Bains accepted the invitation to join the guide at the Ritz in Paris this week.

He said: “Since my early years as a chef I have admired Les Grande Tables du Monde guidebook, and, after spending my Roux Scholarship stage in France at Les Jardin des Sens, my respect for it was cemented.

“To be part of the guide and be among such an elite group of restaurants from the UK, is incredibly gratifying for myself and the team at Restaurant Sat Bains who work tirelessly to ensure we deliver the ultimate in hospitality for our guests who come from all corners of the globe.”

The list of 10 restaurants to be inducted into the 2018 guide also included Seta in Milan, Restaurant Chapeau Rouge in Dijon, France and Le Bernardin in New York.
