Christian Guild Hotels to sell two properties for £3m

Two hotels owned and operated by Christian Guild Hotels are to be sold, leaving the group with just three properties.

The 61-bedroom Abbot Hall hotel in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria, and the 23-bedroom Lindors Country House hotel (pictured) in Lydney, Gloucestershire, each carry a price tag of £1.5m.

Accommodation at Abbot Hall, built in 1840, is split between 36 bedrooms in the main house, a 14-bedroom bungalow and five lodges with 11 bedrooms, alongside separate owner's accommodation. The hotel also features a restaurant, coffee shop and two conference rooms.

Lindors is made up of five lodges, three conference rooms and the 64-cover Stowes restaurant. Located close to the Forest of Dean, within grounds of nearly 25 acres, the main section of the hotel was built in the 1830s alongside a wing dating back to 1660.

The sale of the two hotels, which are being jointly marketed by Savills and Musson Liggins, will leave Christian Guild Hotels with three properties: Treloyhan Manor in St Ives, Cornwall; Sidholme hotel, Sidmouth, Devon; and Willersley Castle, near Matlock, Derbyshire.

Tom Cunningham, director at Savills, said the hotels are attractive to a range of prospective buyers as "both are located in popular tourist destinations and benefit from a strong business and tourist trade".

Christian Guild is a trading name of Methodist Guild Holidays, which today is a multi-denominational holiday organisation.
