Tony Conigliaro and Rob Roy Cameron to open Gazelle in Mayfair

Drinks specialist Tony Conigliaro and chef Rob Roy Cameron are set to launch Gazelle bar and restaurant in London's Mayfair.

The duo have signed a lease on a 2,500 sq ft space at 48 Albemarle Street, where the joint venture is expected to open in May.

The two-storey cafe, bar and restaurant will be open all day, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and selection of bar snacks as well as cocktails.

Conigliaro (pictured, right) said: "This will be a bit of a new direction for me. I always wanted to open a place where the food stood equal with the drinks and would be a complete destination in its own right."

Botswana-born Cameron (left) previously worked in Spain at restaurants including as head chef of 41 Degrees and Hoja Santa in Barcelona. He is also executive chef of Conigliaro's Untitled bar and restaurant.

Conigliaro also runs London cocktail bars 69 Colebrooke Row and Bar Termini, as well as the Drink Factory, making this his fourth concept in the capital.

Matt Farrell, director of Trophaeum, which owns the Mayfair Estate on which the site will open, said the company is looking to bring exciting fashion brands, food and drink concepts and cultural outlets to the area, and described the concept as a "perfect fit" for Albemarle Street.

Gazelle will be housed within the Georgian 1820s building, featuring high ceilings and exposed brickwork. The space was formerly used as a commercial space and most recently, a revolving art concept.
