Eataly, the 40-strong international food hall brand, is to open its first UK site in London’s Broadgate in 2020.
Eataly – named by combining Eat and Italy – in a 42,000 sq ft space at 135 Bishopsgate.
Founded by Oscar Farinetti in Turin, Italy, Eataly now has sites in 12 countries including New York, Stockholm, Japan, Istanbul and Sao Paulo.
The concept hosts Italian restaurants, food stalls offering cheese, oils and vinegars, coffee shops, and small stalls serving hot food dishes.
Eatly’s main aim is “to increase the percentage of those who eat with awareness, choosing high-quality Italian products and paying special attention to the source and processing of raw materials.”
It also encourages people to lean through cooking classes, tastings, guest chef events, meeting wine and beer producers and offers free education for children and senior citizens.

135 Bishopsgate’s refurbishment is part of British Land’s wider focus on enhancing the environment for Broadgate’s workers and visitors and attracting businesses to the campus.
