El Pastor confirms it will open its second London site in April

Tortilleria El Pastor comes from 2016 Restaurateur of the Year - Independent Catey Award winners Sam Hart (behind Barrafina and Quo Vadis), his brother James and Crispin Somerville.

The three today confirmed the opening date of the new site in Druid Street, Bermondsey, London, a stone's throw from their first restaurant in Stoney Street, Borough Market.

The tortilleria, or tortilla factory, will make fresh tortillas from scratch every day, using Mexican heirloom corn. The tortillas will be available to take away along with tomatillos, serranos, jalapenos, Mexican style cheese, tortilla presses, mezcal and Mexican beers.

The 26 cover taco bar will serve up freshly-made, warm tortillas in a short menu of tacos along with Mexican beers and El Pastor's first batch of its own mezcal, made in partnership with Mexico's La Clandestina mezcaleria and their master mezcalero, Don Guillermo Abad.

Tortilleria El Pastor will open from 5pm to 10pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from midday to 3pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

A soft launch will be held on 7-8 April with 50% off food eaten in the taco bar.
