Ian and Christa Taylor's Kaleidoscope Collection buys County Hotel Bath

Ian and Christa Taylor's Kaleidoscope Collection has bought the 22-bedroom County Hotel Bath.

Having recently sold the Abbey hotel in Bath and been left with just No.15 Great Pulteney within the Kaleidoscope Collection, the Taylors have their sights on several new acquisitions for 2018 and are expected to announce new hotels joining the collection over the coming months.

They plan to transform the County into a boutique hotel and sister property for No.15 over the next two years. In the initial phases, the bedrooms and public spaces will be refreshed and the lower ground floor will open as a social hub, with booths available for hourly hire.

The hotel will also house pop-ups, with an al fresco beach bar offering cocktails and street food-inspired barbecues during the summer, and a ‘winter wonderland' during the festive season.

The next phase of the project will see the bedroom count increase to 30 and a reconfiguration of the smaller rooms to make them larger. The Taylors will be looking to work with local businesses to give the County a new identity with statement pieces of art and unique touches.

Heading up the operation as hotel manager will be Wayne Darnell, who has worked with the collection for several years overseeing front of house and IT operations.

"We're delighted that County Hotel Bath marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Kaleidoscope Collection," said Ian Taylor.

The sale was completed today with the help of local law firm Mogers Drewett and accountants Moore Stephens.
