Hospitality Action raises £40,000 at inaugural rugby legends dinner
Hospitality Action's inaugural Rugby Legends Dinner has raised £40,000 to support hospitality workers in crisis.
The event was held on Monday 9 April at Deer Park Country House Hotel and sponsored by Sharp's Brewery.
Chefs included Dominic Chapman of the Beehive, White Waltham, Berkshire; Jude Kereama of Kota, Porthleven; Nathan Outlaw of Outlaw's Fish Kitchen, Port Isaac; Josh Eggleton of the Pony & Trap, Bristol; Guy Owen of the Idle Rocks, Saint Mawes; Paul Ainsworth of Paul Ainsworth at Number 6, Padstow; and Michael Wignall formerly of Gidleigh Park, Devon. Food was prepared for 200 guests while rugby union superstars including David Flatman, Phil Vickery MBE and Jeremy Guscot entertained with tales from on and off the pitch.
Mark Lewis, chief executive of Hospitality Action, said: "£40,000 is such a tremendous amount of money that will go a long way to helping those in the industry that need it most.
"Thanks to all of our generous supporters who gave up their time to make this fantastic event happen, in particular Andrew Foulkes MI who masterminded the event and Mark Godfrey FIH MI who gave us free rein of Deer Park Hotel. Needless to say we are always in need of ambassadors just like Andrew and Mark, from right across the UK, to lend their support."
