National Lottery funding to help finance new hotel training school in Warwickshire
Warwickshire College Group (WCG) has scooped more than half a million pounds of lottery money to fund a new hotel training facility.
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has pledged £532,000 to support the development of the project, which will be based at Moreton Morrell College.
There is potential to unlock a further £3.5m of funding from HLF and in total the college needs £8.5m to make the project a reality.
Moreton Hall Hotel Training School will provide students with an opportunity to study and work within "a high quality boutique hotel" operation across all departments, including a restaurant and event spaces. Meanwhile, WCG will also launch new hospitality and tourism courses at its Royal Leamington Spa College and Evesham College.
Moreton Hall was previously home to the college's centre for equine and agricultural studies before it was devastated by fire in 2008.
Angela Joyce, group principal and chief executive of WCG, said: "Our vision of creating a hotel training school directly supports the needs and ambitions of the regional economy to boost tourism and to create the next generation of skilled employees, which will be so vital in the years following Brexit.
"I have been delighted by the amount of support we have already received and we look forward to continuing to work in partnership with industry stakeholders and hospitality sector bodies to now make this vision a reality."
