Lee Westcott's Typing Room to close

Chef Lee Westcott's Typing Room restaurant in London's Bethnal Green is set to close its doors.

The Typing Room at the Town Hall hotel will close on 30 June as Westcott has decided to pursue new culinary ambitions and focus on other future projects.

The 40-cover restaurant, Westcott's first solo venture, was initially backed by chef-restaurateur Jason Atherton and received four AA rosettes. It opened in 2014 in the space Nuno Mendes' Michelin-starred Viajante restaurant formerly inhabited.

The hotel will to repurpose the space and will not look to open any further restaurants beyond its Corner Room restaurant, overseen by head chef Craig Johnson.

Peng Loh, owner of the Town Hall hotel, added: "I couldn't thank Lee enough for his contribution to the Town Hall hotel and Unlisted Collection over the last four years. Although the accolades speak for themselves, Lee really has proven himself to be a great talent in the kitchen - and I can't wait to see what future brings for him."
