Luxury hotel set for world class facility for women's football in Cheshire

A 150-bedroom luxury hotel is set to feature within a £70m world-class facility for women's football announced by Cheshire County FA.

Working in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council and Ion Developments, the football club said the centre will include two FIFA-quality pitches, one with a 1000-seat stadium and the second to be used for training by visiting national and international teams. There will also be an additional eight pitches.

The proposed hotel is likely to be operated by a management company, which is yet to be confirmed. It will incorporate a spa with swimming pool and gym, fine-dining restaurant, bar, lounge, banqueting facilities for up to 400 covers and meeting rooms.

The scheme is intended to "provide a unique and ecologically sensitive destination resort to Cheshire's hotel stock".

Ion Developments, previously known as Neptune Developments, has previous hotel experience having developed Marriott Queen Square, Liverpool; Marriott, Liverpool Airport (now a Crowne Plaza); Ramada Plaza in Southport; Premier Inn at Liverpool Lime Street (opening Sep 2018) and Travelodge Rhyl, also under construction.

Steve Parry, managing director, Ion Development said: "We are greatly looking forward to bringing what will become a world-class football centre with luxury hotel to Cheshire. The finished development will not only enhance Cheshire's brilliant reputation as a footballing destination and bring hotel rooms to a thriving region, but will also give women and girl's football the much-needed, state-of-the-art facilities to help reach its full potential."

Planning permission is yet to be sought for the project, which is expected to take 18 months to build.
