Shearings puts three hotels on the market

Shearings Leisure Group has put three of its hotels in the north of England and Scotland on the market.

The properties, which are available on an individual or cluster basis, include the 47-bedroom Strathmore hotel in Morecambe, Lancashire, which is seeking offers of £1.3m; the 44-bedroom Eden Arms hotel in Durham, on the market for £1.65m; and the 55-bedroom Portpatrick hotel in Dumfries and Galloway.

Earlier this year Shearings announced a licensing agreement with Hearst to relaunch some of its hotels as Country Living hotels. The group's Lansdown Grove hotel in Bath is relaunching this week, and the St George in Harrogate is relaunching in July, following multimillion-pound refurbishments.

Paul Barrasford, a director in the hotels agency team at Colliers International, which is marketing the property, said: "Although part of a larger group, each hotel is an established and successful business in its own right, in particular, due to recent and major refurbishment programmes, increased private leisure and the popularity of these hotels amongst local clientele for a wide array of corporate and private events."

Shearings Leisure Group operates the Coast and Country Hotels group and Bay Hotels brands and owns the freehold to most of its properties. Coast & Country has 15 hotels in its portfolio, while 30 operate under the Bay Hotels brand. The Portpatrick hotel operates under the group's Coast and Country brand, while the other hotels operate under the Bay Hotels brand.
