Inception Group to take over Cinnamon Soho site

Inception Group's new pop-up bar concept Casa Bonita will take up residence in the former Cinnamon Soho site next month.

The Latin-inspired bar concept will take over 5 Kingly Street from the end of June for six months and details on the group's long-term plans for the unit will be announced later this year.

Vivek Singh's Cinnamon Soho, which formerly inhabited the site, closed earlier this month. Singh said the restaurant "no longer fits" within the group's portfolio.

Charlie Gilkes, Inception Group founder, said: "We are thrilled to have been given this amazing opportunity to take on this prime Carnaby, Soho bar premises. We'll be trading it as a fun Latin-inspired pop-up until the end of the year before revealing our exciting longer-term plans with the site."

Casa Bonita will serve twists on classic cocktails, using Bacardi, Banks and Santa Teresa rums, Patron tequila and Leblon cachaça, as well as Latin bar snacks, and put on live Latin music events.

The Inception Group also owns and operates London bars, restaurants and clubs including Cahoots, Mr Fogg's and Bunga Bunga.

Julia Wilkinson, group restaurant strategy executive at real estate investment trust Shaftesbury, added: "Shaftesbury is delighted to add a brand-new bar concept to Kingly Court for summer 2018. Casa Bonita will be the first new bar to launch in Carnaby for some time and the mix of Latin cocktails and music promises to deliver a fun new pop-up destination for Carnaby while Inception work up an even more exciting permanent concept for the unit."
