Tattu restaurant group announces plans for two new sites

Chinese restaurant group Tattu has announced the launch of two new sites in Birmingham and Edinburgh.

The Birmingham site is expected to open first in the Colmore Row district in August 2018. It will be a 6,500 sq ft space set over two floors with a 150-cover capacity.

The group's fourth site, a 4,680 sq ft space, will open in Edinburgh's The Registers development on St Andrew Square in late spring 2019.

Founded in 2015, the family-owned business opened its first site in Manchester's commercial Spinningfields district, where it now serves about 2,500 covers per-week in its 190-cover, two-floor restaurant and private dining room.

Tattu's second site opened in East Parade in Leeds city centre in June 2017 with 170-covers.

Tattu offers Chinese sharing dishes which fuse traditional flavours with modern cooking techniques. Dishes include sweet miso Chilean sea bass, wagyu dumpling, lobster and prawn toast, beef and fois gras gyoza, teriyaki scallops, sticky beef short rib and Szechuan sea bass.

Adam Jones, owner and managing director of Tattu Restaurants, said that opening four sites was "never the initial plan" however the organic growth has seen more demand and an "overwhelming response from customers."

He added: "The company has gone from strength to strength thanks to a team of creative individuals and a diverse customer base that has identified with our concept. Completing on two new sites marks the start of an exciting period of growth for Tattu. Location is key for us, and as an independent business we have made a point of being rigorous in our approach to site location to ensure that each restaurant offers guests an unrivalled design aesthetic and dining experience. I am certain the next 12 months will be challenging, but we feel extremely privileged to be in such a strong position in what is a very competitive and evolving industry."

Tattu Restaurants currently employs 174 staff across its restaurants in Manchester and Leeds, and will grow this number to about 350 with the planned new openings in Birmingham and Edinburgh.
