McKeever Hotel Group has completed the first phase of its refurbishment of Dunadry hotel, one year after it was acquired the County Antrim property.
With an investment of £1m, phase one of the 80-bedroom hotel’s revamp included the completion of the Grand Ballroom, the Peacock Lounge and the Linen Suite.
Eugene McKeever, managing director of McKeever Hotel Group, described the property as rich with history. The hotel was the location of the photo taken of John Hume, David Trimble and Tony Blair in 1998 following the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
“We want to retain and become custodians of that history but we also wanted to bring the hotel, which had become tired, in to the 21st century,” said McKeever.
“The work completed has come at a cost and to date we’ve spent some £1m but we are delighted with the result. As a service-driven business, we had to ensure the scope of the work was responsible and very carefully thought out.”
The total cost of the refurbishment, which is being carried out with Northern Ireland’s BM Interior Design, is not known at this stage as it will be ongoing for a number of years.
