Grant McKenzie appointed GM of Courtyard Edinburgh hotel

Grant McKenzie has been appointed general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh hotel.

The former Acorn Award-winner will head up the 55-strong team at the 240-bedroom hotel, which is operated by hotel management company RBH, and oversee operations.

McKenzie's previous experience includes looking after properties under brands including Malmaison and QHotels, and most recently he worked as regional managing director for Macdonald Hotels & Resorts in Scotland.

He said: "There's a very experienced and driven team in place at the hotel, and I'm looking forward to working alongside them to improve the already high standards of service offered to our guests. My focus will also be on creating a first-class environment where members of the team can flourish and reach their full potential."

The 150-year ground lease of property was acquired by property investment company M&G Real Estate for £23m last year. Located at Baxter's Place, the hotel was developed across three category A-listed Georgian townhouses with a contemporary extension at the rear and opened in late 2016.

There are six Courtyard by Marriott hotels in the UK, including at Aberdeen Airport, Glasgow Airport, London Gatwick Airport, Luton Airport and another Edinburgh hotel.
