Thomas Hagemann appointed COO of Meininger Hotels

German-based Meininger Hotels, which offers hostel-style accommodation across Europe, has appointed Thomas Hagemann as chief operating officer.

Hagemann will join the company from Radisson Hotel Group, where he is vice president, technical and pre-opening service, on 1 August and report to the company’s chief executive Hannes Spanring.

In his new role, he will oversee Meininger’s regional operations across 25 hotels in 14 cities, as well as facilities management.

In the UK, the group has operated the Meininger Hotel London Hyde Park since 2006 and is looking to open a 160-room property with 590 beds in Glasgow by 2020. Rooms includes double rooms and dormitory-style rooms featuring a multiple number of beds.

Spanring said: “Thomas has many years of industry experience where his proven track record of bringing new hotels into successful operation will perfectly complement Meininger’s long-term expansion plans.

“With his strong leadership skills and global operational experience, I am confident that Thomas will drive excellence and lead Meininger through the next phase of our development and growth.”

Hagemann added: I am thrilled to be joining Meininger and the more that I have learnt about the Company, the more excited I have become about the product, the long-term vision and the people who work for Meininger.”

Meininger is a subsidiary of Holidaybreak, a travel group specialising in educational and activity holidays. In turn, Holidaybreak is a subsidiary of Prometheon Holdings (UK), which is a part of Cox & Kings.
